Car sharing

General overview

What is Car Sharing?

It is a modern way to use cars.  Businesses and people wishing to save money on their transportation costs use vehicles jointly with others.  Each Driver reserves a vehicle for the time needed and usually walks less than a few blocks to the car they chose.  Then they take the car to their destinations and always return the car to the same spot where the car was picked up.  Each Driver only pays for the car (and is only responsible for the car) when they use it.  By sharing cars, we help save our environment and each save on car costs.

Instead of paying a large lump sum to lease or purchase a vehicle and another fairly large sum to pay for the insurance (which creates an atmosphere of “I might as well take the car since I’m paying for it anyway and it’s just sitting there” adding the stress of traffic and parking to the mix when perhaps taking the SkyTrain or bus would be more efficient), car sharing fosters planning – even if it’s a few minutes before the trip – saving time and money for the Driver and the employer.  (This creates an atmosphere where the employee pauses to consider traffic and parking issues before getting into the car and also planning the time and path necessary for this trip – leading to the Driver also co-ordinating errands to be more efficient.)

It also means that a company can have many Drivers using cars from our fleet at the same time as opposed to owning 1 Smart Car that only fits 1 person and gear or 2 people – and only makes one trip at a time.

25 Drivers with The Company Car = $1000 refundable deposit + $500 registration fee = $1500
