We are happy to have you car sharing with us through The Company Car (powered by the Co-operative Auto Network).
These instructions and links are on the Sustainable Commuting Program website. From Citywire, click on the Sustainable Commuting Program link at the top centre of the page. Once on the site, click on “Car sharing” on the top blue bar.
Registration process:
Ask your manager if you can sign up to use a car share vehicle for City use. All City use charges will be charged to your work group.
Phone ICBC at 604-661-2255 (extension 5) to have your Driving Record and Claims History e-mailed to The Company Car at . In order to use Co-op cars, you need to meet The Company Car’s safe driver criteria. If you have been driving fewer than three years in BC, you will need to submit the documents from your previous province or country of residence.
Complete The Company Car Online Orientation, which is customized for City of Vancouver employees.
Please arrange an appointment with the City Car Sharing Administrator and bring your driver's licence or licence and photo ID (e.g. passport) if your licence does not include your photo. They will need to verify your licence, confirm your work location, and fill out the relevant information in the second section on the Authorization for The Company Car form. Please email commuting@vancouver.ca to contact a City Car Sharing Administrator.
Once you have registered, within a couple of days you will receive an e-mail on how to book online. To reserve vehicles, please book online where possible or call The Car Co-op at 604-685-1393.
Getting a Personal Account is essentially the same process as above. Links, forms and other details are available here. You also have the option of supporting the Car Co-op and joining as a Co-operative Auto Network (CAN) full member/shareholder and receiving all the perks of Car Co-op membership.
