The Company Car and Residential Developments

Residents with car sharing options built into their buildings can take advantage of this great opportunity!  Residents of the Woodwards development, Adera GREEN, and UBC Wesbrook Place, to name a few, have received fantastic incentives to start car sharing with us thanks to our partnerships with their developments.

Insurance

All vehicles are insured for work or pleasure purposes with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) under a fleet plan option so the Co-operative Auto Network, not the Driver, holds the insurance.  We carry Third Party Legal Liability to $5,000,000 plus Collision and Specified Perils Coverage.  In an at-fault accident, the Driver at fault is responsible for the deductible just as if you were driving a personally owned or company vehicle. The deductible is $500.

The Company Car (TCC) requires a signed credit card imprint to capture this amount in case of an at-fault accident.  If the Driver is deemed NOT at fault by ICBC, then the deductible does not have to be paid.  ICBC is the final arbiter of accountability in all accident situations.

What are the next steps?

The following are the next steps towards signing up as a Residential Development Client of The Company Car:

#1 – Please send record & history documents

Participation in this program requires from each driver:

• A valid driver's licence;
• At least three years' driving history;
• Three or fewer traffic violations in the last five years;
• No at-fault accidents in the past three years or ICBC discount of 35% or higher; and
• No criminal code convictions under the Motor Vehicles Act.

We will need a record of your driving experiences in the last three to five years.  If:

• you have had a BC driver's licence for three years or more, your ICBC records will be sufficient.  Please contact ICBC Driver Services at 604.661.2255 (extension 5), or toll-free at 1.888.715.7775.  Ask for both documents &endash; your Driving Record and your Claims History &endash; and, for no charge, have them e-mailed to us at .
• you have been driving fewer than three years in BC (and a total of three years or more somewhere else), you will need to submit additional documents from your old driver's licence within one month of joining TCC.  Links to other provincial licensing authorities can be found at the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators.
• you are from somewhere outside Canada or the USA, we still require your ICBC records (see above) as well as for you to write us a letter stating:
  1. the year you started driving;
  2. the number of traffic violations (speeding ticket, running a red light, ignoring a stop sign, etc.) you have had in the past five years, and in which country you received them;
  3. the number of at-fault accidents you have had in the past three years.

The form we require for authorization can also be used for Drivers with Personal Accounts and Residential Development Clients to have their bills paid automatically each month by credit card.  As well, it can be used to pay the deposit (if applicable) and any registration fees to start.

#4 – Please come to our office for verification & payment

Once you have decided to give The Company Car a try and the above steps have been completed, please call our office to verify that we have received your documents and arrange for a time to drop by our office so our staff can meet you.  We are available 7 days a week from 9:00am to 8:00pm.  If your driver's licence does not have your current address on it, please bring with you a copy of either your rental/tenancy agreement or a piece of recent mail that shows the correct address.  Please bring the forms if you have already printed them out and filled them in.  Please sign them at our office in front of our staff.  At that time you can pay your deposit and registration fee by cash, cheque, direct debit or credit card.  We will also need to see photo ID (your driver's licence) and give you a key.  You can start using the cars as soon as we have bank confirmation that your cheque for the deposit has cleared – or right away if you pay by cash, credit card or direct debit.

TransLink's Employer Pass Program

Residential Development Clients can also sign up for TransLink's Employer Pass Program – giving them monthly transit passes for 15% off when they sign up for a minimum of 1 year.  Many workplaces are not able to set this up as TransLink currently requires a minimum of 25 employees participating.  Once you are a Client of The Company Car, we can offer this to you! If interested, please download the form below, print it out, and bring it to the sign-in.  On that form above "Name of Employer" please put "Co-operative Auto Network".
